Central Showers Project

Purpose

Increase the efficiency of the current central showers for both youth and adult participants, with the implementation of an individual stall format. This project will remove a much-stated drawback of a much beloved camp to many. This central shower house remains a point of contention among all activities and events that take place at Spanish Trail Scout Reservation.

Project Priorities

1. Repair of the structure: plumbing, electrical and framing

2. To remake the shower house into individual entry stalls for toilets and showers

3. Increase the functionality and appearance of the central showers

4. To increase the ease of cleaning and maintenance

Plan of Execution

There will be a several phase strategy to tackle this project before Conclave 2021 and to not interfere with other events that take place before said event. This strategy will renovate the entirety of the central showers. This strategy is designed and expected to take place over a year long period. This project will create 10 individual entry shower stalls, 4 individual entry toilet stalls and 2 individual entry urinal stalls. This count includes one handicap accessible shower and one handicap accessible toilet. Trough sinks will be located on the exterior.

■ ¾” Schedule 40 PVC Conduit

■ *12 Gauge THHN Wire

■ 125 Amp Square D Sub - Panel

■ 200 Amp Square D Main Panel (Exterior for future campsite power)

■ Timed / Switched Receptacles

○ Plumbing:

■ 1” PEX

■ *Instantaneous Hot Water Heater (gas)

■ *Trough Sinks

■ Addition of gas tank

■ Pull chain shower heads

○ Structural:

■ Extruded steel (between bottom of walls to concrete)

■ Roofing Metal (Stall walls)

■ Hardware cloth (between top of stall walls to rafters)

■ Doors made of 2X4’s

■ Deadbolt for stall doors (master key for emergency)

■ Interior of stall painted Kilz White

■ Rubber floor mats for changing areas with a bench and shirt pegs

■ Addition of two handicap accessible bathrooms with shower, sink and toilet

○ Replacement with green metal roof

○ Replacement of Eve

○ Addition of Gutters
